Despite the absolute joy and relief of the long-awaited California rain, I’ve been a little sad this morning. It’s not as easy to shrug off as it has been in the past. Added to the usual, “Oh, it’s nothing…” is the 2020, “Ugh!..It’s everything…!” Praise God that He has both challenged and helped me to hide His Word in my heart so that I don’t sin against Him. After putting my finger on a few things that were eating at me, Romans 8:28 came to mind.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
I can totally distract myself by playing the No Exceptions game. All things means All Things. No except fors; no yeah, buts. All things. Somehow, it gives suffering and sadness an extra measure of purpose. His purpose.
This morning it wasn’t good enough to remember that verse, however. I had to go back and read the whole chapter. I’m so glad I did. It so powerful and seems to apply to virtually every situation we find ourselves in.
I challenge you to do the same thing. Listening counts, so do it while you’re driving if time is pressing you. And then I want you to share your thoughts with me. If you’re feeling a little directionless, let me know if Romans chapter 8 helps at Lifting Her Voice, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
