Have you ever heard of The Romans Road? It came to mind yesterday as we read Romans chapter 3. The Romans Road is a group of about five or six verses in the book of Romans that concisely presents God’s plan of salvation. It goes like this:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:8 But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9-10 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
Romans 10:13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Be Ready to Give a Reason
I highly encourage you to bookmark these verses in your Bible. Those little flags work really well! That way, at a moment’s notice, you can grab your Bible and walk someone through the Gospel. You may even want to Google it to get some supporting verses and explanations in case someone has questions. When you do, you will find additional verses added. I’m especially intrigued with Romans 1:20 and will probably add it to my own Road. Make the words your own and get comfortable with it.
Remember what Peter tells us in his first letter? Always be ready to give the reason for the hope that you have. Knowing Jesus, being saved from God’s judgement of sin, is not something to be kept to yourself. Salvation is a gift to be given away. I pray that God will give you the opportunity to give it to someone regularly. You can print this from either the transcript or this blog at liftinghervoice.com.
