What is truth?
My Editor-Husband made an accurate statement that Jesus’ truth is absolute and doesn’t change. We talked about that for a few minutes this morning.
For Pilate, the truth is viewed from a worldly perspective. The world tells us that truth is seen through the eyes of the beholder, that it is dependent on who is saying what to whom, and what our motives are for saying and believing whatever truth is told.
Pilate was looking for the truth that would get him out of the mess he was in with the Jews and Jesus, and perhaps get him promoted from that Jewish backwater and transferred to a better post elsewhere.
Thankfully, Jesus’ truth does not change. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. It seems like Pilate needed to know that, didn’t he?
Who in your life needs to know the truth today?
